about

Rubber Band Aid took place at Christmas 2012 and was to be a one off fun project which would feature the postmen and women of Kidderminster, Bewdley and Cleobury recording a xmas single 'Santa Ive Been Good This Year' to raise funds for Kidderminster's favourite son Charlie Harris-Beard.

The project was such good fun that it was decided to record an album of xmas songs to support the single. The aim was to sell 100 cd's and raise around £500 for Charlie and his family through cd sales and digital downloads of the single.

We clearly underestimated just how popular Charlie is as 100 cd's became 1000! We couldn't keep up with the huge demand. An appeal was made for the public to donate blank CD's for our cause. We had people chasing posties down the streets with packs of discs. Posties were burning discs around the clock, some using laptops whilst sorting their mail!

It was decided that a live show would help raise even more funds and the Wilden Cricket Club was booked.

Ticket demand was so immense that we had to move to Kidderminster town hall to accommodate Charlie's audience.

A live DVD was recorded on the night to raise funds even further.

Despite the hard work of all the posties it was Charlie who stole the show with a simple thankyou to close the evening. Charlie melted every single heart in the building.

The Rubber Band Aid project raised a grand total of approximately £6500 for Charlie through cd sales, digital downloads, concert tickets and dvd sales.

Sadly all the money in the world could not save our little hero.

Charlie's legacy is the charity 'Cords4life' which has been set up by his parents Joe and Fiona. The cause is campaigning for pregnant women to be made aware of the life giving benefits of umbilical cord donation when they give birth.

We posties have decided to continue our project in loving memory of Kidderminster's favourite son Charlie Harris-Beard, and Rubber Band Aid 2 is now here. Every single penny will be donated to Cords4life.

This years theme will be The Musicals. The show is set for December 14th at The Stourport Civic Hall
